Afghanistan cost 8 trillion over 20 years. That's 400 billion a year. The war in Ukraine has been going on for 2 months. At this rate, it's going to be as expensive as Afghanistan.
Prices going up is one thing, there will be not enough gas to go around. Norway can't supply everyone in Europe. But what happens on European oil/gas supplies is ultimately small fry.
As soon as Russia cuts off gas and oil, OPEC will also launch an embargo against the west. They will have the strongest hand they've ever had when it comes to the Israeli/Palestinian solution.
Look at the Arab-Iranian reproachment despite the war in Yemen not being close to being over. There's also been increased attacks on Israel, and more Israeli brutality against Palestinians.
What amazes me is that not a single analyst is considering the prospect of another Arab embargo. Even though the stars are aligning for it to happen. It's like they're all observing radio silence on the matter, because they're so terrified if it actually happens.
In the words of the Josef Lipski, if Putin cuts off gas and oil to Europe, the Palestinians will build a monument to him.

Its even worse than that when you add what the rest of the west are giving Ukraine. More was spent in Iraq and Afghanistan, but that was over years/decades. This has been 2 months. It's not going to go down, the Ukrainians will burn through this fast. And as much of this equipment will end up in Russian hands just like the ATGMs thanks to Ukrainian corruption.
This is a higher rate of spending than Vietnam. The last time America had this level of spending was WW2.
This is basically a giant military cash for clunkers deal. A giant subsidy to the MIC. The idea that much of said money will end up in Ukraine is just a mirage. Even the money that is allocated for civilian purposes will likely be used to purchase western goods/services or simply stolen and most of it returned as kickbacks.
