He said China has no interest in the American plane, not that China has no intention of retrieving it.
Why not just go for it?
As per international law it is technically fair game.
The whole F-35C into the sea while flexing muscles just reminds me how US mistakes/blunders gets glossed over in Western media while every tiny mistakes China is under a magnifying glass in Western media. It's like they think it's 1986 and China is so backwards/poor and have zero self-awareness or self-reflection.
