Why would Beijing let the Michaels go home? That's admitting they were held solely for political reasons.
I'll withhold judgement on this matter for now. It could be that releasing the two Canadian spies is part of the deal.I don't think they will be.
Canada did nothing to secure Meng's release, therefore there is no goodwill from China.
On the contrary, sentencing the two Michaels according to the full extent of the law will send a strong message to any
other country that might be tempted to follow in Canada footsteps.
Biden gets an earful from conservative media for breathing and being alive.Biden is going to get an earful from conservative media for this I imagine.
That said, for a change I say good on him for doing the right thing.
That's my gut reaction too, totally agree. On the contrary, sentencing the two Michaels according to the full extent of the law will send a strong message to any
other country that might be tempted to follow in Canada footsteps.
Yea, in this case, maybe given them a reduced sentence to 2-3 years then release them.I'll withhold judgement on this matter for now. It could be that releasing the two Canadian spies is part of the deal.
That was fast lol, now the fate of two michaels will be totally under China mercy
Except if Canada persuaded the US to come up with a plea deal knowing that Meng’s extradition will ultimately fail in court…and assuming Meng’s lawyers know that is what’s going to happen, then why would Meng agree to this plea deal. They can tell the US that as the case is unravelling, there is a clear legal path for her to be released and the extradition denied. So the US can either do this now to save face or look real real bad later. And the Canadians would want to be as convincing as possible to get the US to bite because if they don't and it comes to an extradition denial, Canada would be in a spot where China's still angry at it for arresting Meng and taking 3+ years in the first place and the US is howling mad at it for the outcome.
You know, I'm curious how many Twitter feeds you're plugged in to. Are you sitting in a room surrounded by an array of monitors displaying Tweets all the time?
