Must have been Mao's purges of all the smart people in China. They must have either done to advancement in secret to spite Mao or idiots managed to achieve a miracle.

The narrative that Mao killed all the smart people in China literally make 0 sense when this is the era China space and Nuclear program we're developed and a strain of rice that can feed millions of people. Like the west needs to make their narratives make sense.

Oh no, we still got to respect the historical facts.

During the Great Proletariat Cultural Revolution, all the schools were closed, meaning no one went to university. No one in ten years. And since China was sealed off from the rest of the world, no information was flowing in or out, unlike today.

That was why China fell so far behind.

China like back then, is kind of unimaginable for today's people.

Interesting. Is there a list of counterpoints that argues all of the common propaganda against Mao and Mao era PRC spread by the West and FLG up to this time. I'm aware of the US embargo that exacerbated the famine but is there any truth of mass killing of sparrows(?) or the logic behind it? I also get the impression that Mao wasn't really a great statesman/ruler in the same vein as current CPC brass or perhaps it was such a different time and circumstance that it needed a leader of Mao's quality. The comparison to Qin shi huang is often pointed out.

Emperor Qin and Chairman Mao were probably the only two people who started revolutions in Chinese history. In that, historians could point to one person who caused all the changes.

That is what they said about Mao before the communist won. No one questioned his leadership, it was the force of his brain that was decisive.

Updates and overhauls to the procedures and methods of handling ammonium nitrate events are definitely required.

It was actually not just saddening but profoundly compassion inducing, first time seeing "an actual shockwave" traveling towards us from the first-person viewing angle since camera was able to capture it in high enough frame rate. I have seen enough shockwaves in wind tunnels but this was as if you were being hit by it.

I was deeply saddened for the those who died.

After shockwaves causes collapse of lunges, bloodily rupturing them, and destroys ear drums and crushes eyes causing complete temporary or permanent blindness, you may not actually die immediately and rather die in extreme pain, unable to see, speak or hear anything. The degree of pain filled helplessness in such a state rivals the most suffering anyone can ever go through.

The shockwave can actually cause compressive damage to even the liver where pain is the most unbearable (I mean absolutely not bearable). Death can take a while in while still being in extremum of agony.

Daily seeing Gaza has totally changed me, sensitising to me such things deeply, as people of Gaza too went through such shockwaves daily, even babies. US and its friends do horrific things, without any consciousness to make them feel the nature or the degree of their evil, they commit.

None-the-less while this was an accident. Yet, the suffering still is quite the same.

Its never a good idea to stay close to burning commercial trucks or train due to the nature of the chemicals they carry.

Vehicle having the camera was not that close, yet shockwave reached it without any problem. Even the ground/long grass attached boundary layer that would have formed, did not slightly impede it. The shattered windscreen glass of the camera vehicle would have definitely hit hard the passengers there.

This was one of kind experience of an approaching actual shockwave in real world situation.

Apparently, the dam was built in the 1960s with a mainly soil structure.

Red circle denotes likely dam collapse location (left photo). Note the flat terrain with many villages downstream on the upper half of the photo.

With Severe Tropical Storm Maysak having largely dissipated, it seems that the water level in the dam has receded (right photo). Hopefully local and national SAR efforts can enter the seriously affected regions ASAP.

Reportedly the dam was reinforced during 2023 to 2025.

I mean we have to take it with a grain of salt because alot of "facts" are in reality propaganda like how the Russian and Chinese used Human wave attacks.

China has successfully conducted a full-range SL-ICBM test (should be JL-2) from a submarine into the South Pacific just now. This is the first full-range ICBM test into the South Pacific since September 2024.
