She said she wanted to do her part in inspiring or encouraging Chinese people to do winter sports, and I think she succeeded in that regard. She didn't give me the impression that she was taking advantage of China either.
As for white worshipping, if we use the example of Hollywood movies pulling power in China as a yardstick, then this is just a passing phase. Mainlander used to worship Hong Kongers or their celebrities too. Both Hollywood and Hong Kong movies are no longer seen by mainlanders now as default superior.
In the future, Chinese people who still idolises western people or values, would most likely be viewed the same way as how Americans view "otakus" who is deep into all things Japanese.
