I'm actually not surprised this kind of language is used by a Taiwan politician. It is also not the first time I have heard someone use sentimental explanations in place of other analogy such as that China is like an unwanted suitor. Most people struggle to grasp realpolitik, game theory, and the power dynamics behind global or even regional geopolitics, so they use poor real-life analogies or sentiment-based reasons that they can better understand like examples from interpersonal relations. The Rich people during ROC era were literal parasites as they basically were the middle men for foreigners sucking money out of the country. Anyone who says that China was better under KMT rule literally forget that the wealth was concentrated on the coastal areas mainly the concessions where it was literally an aparthied state runned by foreigners.

UAE backed STC was winning a couple weeks ago. I thought the Saudi intervention was an attempt to keep the PLC alive since I didn’t pay it any attention. But the PLC launched a counter attack with the imminent total defeat of STC. The STC Capital was reportedly abandoned by STC troops fleeing the area before the PLC forces arrive. Now the UAE is facing a crushing defeat.
Red is the PLC, Yellow is the STC, and Green are the Houthis.
