imagine how may problems could be avoided if they could take all these failed think tanks out the back and shoot their sorry useless ass
I prefer the word Septic Tank. Think Tank always fantasizes about the worst possible scenario in every metrics from economy, influence, military etc etc. But in the end reality always bites them in the proverbial rear end. These people don't live in the real world, they never experience hardship, survival or any form of struggles. Majority of these people were born into a life of privilege and spent their entire life behind a desk and reading countless past history books about a certain culture, Nations and background. Reality is these people forgot to add dynamic changes, cultural shift or seismic change in their thought process. They always think about the static, the past and neglect the ever changing dynamics and attributes of the human race. One such legend of the Think Tank community is Gordon Chang. Enough said!

China planting trees to save environment.... but at what cost???!

The Chinese don't even know planting more trees leads to more water use in reforested area? Think about the water! Aqua lives matter.

At what cost?? Answer: at the cost of fragile broken egos.

If we want to the charitable to the article, the main issue it's pointing out is that the Great Green wall is helping move more moisture to the Tibetan Plateau and away from parts of northwestern China (and they even mention the eastern monsoon region, but it's a monsoon region so it's not really lacking in water anyway...). The thing is most solutions to problems are not perfect and have tradeoffs, the tradeoff is a slightly more arid northwestern region but significantly slowing down the growth of the Gobi desert, reduced sand storms in rural areas and major cities like Beijing, etc. So the headline of the article is stupid clickbait since the conclusion they make isn't as negative as the headline would imply, and the tradeoffs arguably make up for the negatives to China's water cycle anyway.

US: We ban you from buying even the RTX4090. lol.
China: Why?
US: Because Think Tank stooges say so.
China: don´t play that card.
US: We already did. LOL.
China: OK, we will develop our own.
US: You can´t, Think Tanker A said that TSMC bla bla bla. EUV extraterrestrial technology bla bla bla. said Think Tanker B with a degree in law.

China: We have now multiple decent GPUs that can serve as a foundation for our AI industry supply chain.
Jensen Huang: F*CK, They are developing their own AI stack without Nvidia and with the popularity of their AI models is only matter of time that develop their model without CUDA or worse in an open standard. If that happen and the AI bubble pops WE ARE DOOMED. F*CK. PLEASE DONNY LET ME SELL GPUs.
US: Ok, here China have the H20.
China: Thanks but no thanks, we are staying using our own homemade hardware, also the H20 is crap, you say you will add backdoors and in top of that you will probably block it again.

US: Wait what? You...you just reject me? WTH?
Jensen: PLEASE DONNY, LET ME SELL THE H200 BEFORE THE BUBBLE POPS.
US: Here China have H200. This is the best GPU you will ever get from us. Don't get accustomed, usually we are not this charitable.
China: Nahh, We may or may not consider buying that. We still may prefer our homegrown options thought.
US: WTF? call the Think Tankers with art degrees. We have a problem here. They are rejecting our GPUs

China might have figured out US strategy a long time ago, but its now hard to present it as demonstration of Chinese strategic brilliance considering America has been openly declaring their strategy to flood Chinese market with Nvidia on TV.

I do not think China purposely wants to prevent India's rise. On the contrary, India does want to prevent China's rise, as India sees everything as a zero sum game, much like the West. I do think China should purposely prevent India's rise. India is a nation that has learned all the wrong reasons and lessons from its colonial past. Rather than help global south countries and itself break free from economic, political, social, and psychological colonialism, India WANTS to be the next imperial power. For example, India has adopted all the terrible democratic values of the West, such as political grifting, political corruption through the oligarchs, directed propogandas at both domestic and foreign entities--one look at the scope of India's internal problems and it almost mirrors the West almost 1:1--combine that with India's domestic cultural ills and you have a very nasty aspiration for the next imperial power. Another example, is their hidden inferiority complex, manifested as a need to have the reversed role of white supremacy through this Hindutva Nationalism, to justify and play up the significance and role of Indian contribution to human progress to create a sense of self-value. You see this in action through the pictures of white people as servants/homemakers, their absurd proclamations to have created technologies from the past that Europeans and others "stole," or adopted later, or the need to revise their history to claim the Taj Mahal was built by Hindus, rather the truth be told, it was built by an Islamic Emperor Shah Jahan of the Mughal Empire. This new Hindu Nationalism, is yet another terrible lesson learned from European history in the period of the rise of Nationalism that culminated into 20th century rise of Nazi Germany and the desire to create an Aryan race.

For China, and all its neighbors, India is and should be regarded as an existential threat, because India DO have expansionist aspirations, and, why India has time and time again failed to resolve the border issue with China is not because the border issue can not be resolved, but because they do not want to resolve it. Therefore, for China and India's neighbors, should all work to balkanize India, if the global South is to have peace in the future, and China is to avoid having a powerful existential threat in the south western region that can also potentiall ally itself with other powerful enemies of China--because a powerful India will also mean Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and China's Tibet region will all be under India's expansionist aspirations to create a greater India in teh same bane as Israel's desire to create a greater Israel--no coincidence they are allies for that matter.

Even if India ceased their expansion goal today and wish for Zhou enlai deals, It's already too late as china won't let southern tibet go just to get Indian recognised Chinese control aksai chin. The climate change made it nearly impossible for any future reconciliation between china and India. china also need water to develop and improve population quality of life in western half of china. The future conflict is inevitable
