It’s a catch 22 for the west. If China keeps her currency undervalued, then they will never reindustrialize (though let’s be honest, it’s not like they would have a chance in any scenario). However if China does allow the RMB to appreciate, then investors will flock to Chinese bonds and equities at the expense of wall street because the amount of debt that western countries owe, especially the US, is fast reaching a threshold where more money printing to pay off debt can cause the whole house of cards to come tumbling down in an instant. In short, they are SCREWED.
