I find it ludicrous that people are taking Trump’s claims seriously. You guys didn’t trust him when he said that he would build a big beautiful wall. You guys didn’t believe him when he said he’ll restore US manufacturing. You guys didn’t believe him when he boasted about F-47 being the best plane in the history of stealth aircraft (when it is just a painting IRL). But all of a sudden 80 percent of the forum believes that he got China to cave in to his brain dead trade war demands. In my humble opinion once a liar, always a liar. Burden of proof is on the MAGAs, not China.
I think it is not that these 80% trust Trump all of sudden. They just somehow do not yet have the confidence in China's strength and determination.

Not surprising, this forum is mostly overseas born Chinese and not all, but some stake all their pride in China's rise not because of the welfare of the Chinese people and civilization itself, but just as a one dimensional desire for China to become strong as pushback against all the racism they've experienced in life.

So when China either falters or even just makes practical compromises, without any nuance or analysis they just kneejerk feel that China is "turning the other cheek" and feel betrayed.

But what can the Korean offer in return? Korea is mainly a customer of semi production tools AFAIK, not a significant maker of the tools that could benefit China. Japan and the Netherlands on the other hand are makers of tools, but they will never break ranks.

Forget about outside help, China can do it alone.

The choice is this. Forget about China, the question is on the Koreans.

The Chinese will say to the Koreans, break away from the Americans, and guarantee your market access in China for your chip-makers.

Otherwise, market forces will take their course. (Note that this part, the Chinese will not say out loud. It is up to the Koreans to figure it out themselves what the Chinese are saying, or that the Koreans already decided.)

Samsung cell phones had a decent market share in China, then it went to 1% now probably close to 0%. Similar dynamic can await their Hyndai.

South Korea is too small. They have to choose a side. If they do not choose a side, the Chinese or American will choose it for them.

The Chinese will not do that directly. The Chinese will do a 36 Tricks, borrow knife to kill them, kill their company business.

Instinctively, we probably know it is better to make these decisions on our own than have someone else make it for you.

They have to choose, and choose now. Otherwise, that decision will be made for them by the Americans or market forces, like you alluded too.

This stuff is hilarious!

That is why I like President Trump so much! No bullshit, and bullshit all the time, both at the same time, that all makes sense, unless he is cornered, that sort of thing, lol.

1. This trade war since Liberation Day is effectively over. It was all about China, and the other tariffs against the rest of the world more or less was gravy. Still, it was all about China.

2. To make a long story short, after the America and China tariff fight, they are good now with each other. However, the Americans in all likelihood asked the Chinese to not say much about their agreement.

3. President Trump has informed the rest of the world besides China, that the United States will issue letters telling those other countries what are the tariff rates. Forget about negotiations, as this trade war is over.

4. How will the other countries respond? Who the hell knows. They got no information, and the Chinese usually never say anything. Haha!

Haha!

That is why you choose China. You could have been given a part of the deal. Now the deal will be given to you on the behalf of Trump & Company!

A tremendous deal. They will be happy with it.

5. Like him or hate him, Trump knows China, just enough, that eventually they will talk and reach some sort of understanding. This is Trump's only win these past few months, other than what is going on in LA, that is win for Trump too. The funny is that the China tariff battle is not even a win, just that it so bad, that now it feels like a win.

Trump was given the most horrendous advice possible. By his own advisors! Haha!

Damn. I just cannot get enough of this stuff. It is a golden time in American politics!

:p:D:):p:D

Having export quota is why there is even a license system. The license is the quota, with added end use restrictions.

Nothing officially changed on the China side, unofficially American auto gets to live for 6 month and only 6 month.

China did 2 things in April: total RE export control and then unofficially also holding up license grants, US negotiated for the second unofficial holdup to be expediated and in the process was forced to accept the first thing which is strict licensing system

6 months is too long. Should be around 90 days. Like they do the TikTok extension.

Well who knows what the deal really is? Trump has to make it look like he won.

President Trump is a big winner out of these tariff deal with the Chinese, whatever that is, as we do not know the details, no one does. There is no doubt about that in my mind.

But there is the trick, he won, not because he beat the Chinese, he did not beat the Chinese, just that President Trump was so cornered and in deep doo-doo that if he can get out of it then he wins!

Let's considered what happened.
  • a financial crisis from a malfunctioning bond market
  • empty shelves this summer and a contraction in Q1
  • production stopped temporarily in the auto sector no magnets
President Trump was able to wiggle out of that, and secure himself another state visit to China something that he coveted since day 1 of Trump 2.0.

Since he got out of that mess, just claim victory, ask the Chinese to say mum on what they agreed too and the Chinese tend not to talk and if they do no one in the lying Liberal media will believe them anyways, then with the LA riots heating up, divert attention and collect another win.

That is why President Trump is so good at what he does. He is winning, when he is not even winning. LOL!

The Indians need to learn from President Trump.

That is what they need to do.

Time period is less important than the volume allowed. Obviously 6 months of highly throttled volume or 6 months of stockpile however much you like is very different.

In the former case China can always throttle down in response to any policy changes from the US, in the latter case China gave up everything
