It's so bizarre how much of the west is starting to feel like the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc when it was near the end of its collapse. Complete with name calling and everything.

There are folks who are seeing the writing on the wall and just don't want to go through tension and confrontation just to maintain old empires. Some of these fossils want the world to subordinate itself to a system that just can't hold water anymore. This is why China's rise is important, the world has options on who it can deal with in case hegemon f*cks up. Can you imagine if Trump was President in the 1990s or the early 2000s? We'd be in for a tough time.
Trump & the MAGA movement (that has taken over the Republican mainstream) is built fundamentally around the concept of resentment. Specifically, conservative American resentment towards a changing world that is leaving them behind.

Anger and hate - political, ideological, racial, etc. - is a key component of resentment based movements, and has a clear echo in the rise of Nazism in Weimar Germany, where the popular perception of being "stabbed in the back by the Jews and the Communists" and "oppressed by the French, British, etc." drove Hitler to power. Predictably, the Nazi Party then capitalized on their hate-driven mandate by launching attacks against everyone that is not them. Because that's what angry, hateful people do.

MAGA fits just about every feature of fascism. If you want to know how the Germans felt during the rise of the Nazi Party, and why they "failed to stop it," here it is again - the story of the Fourth Reich.

This is not an exaggeration. We're currently at the phase of seizing / robbing the "enemy's" assets (e.g. Tik Tok, Chinese investments, Chinese property in the US, but also liberal universities, think tanks, and government jobs). That was how it began in Nazi Germany, too, with the divestiture and transfer of properties and jobs belonging to the Jews and other perceived "enemies." The next phase (which arguably has already began) will be surveillance - forcing "enemy" groups to register with the government, tracking their activities, their speech, and marking them for special scrutiny.

The third phase will be detention & deportation. The Nazis actually tried to get rid of the Jews that way - via deporting them to other countries - long before they built gas chambers and death camps. That's what Trump is currently trying to do with setting up deportation hubs (for American citizens) like El Salvadore and canceling visas for foreigners.

The final solution is, of course, ethnic cleansing and genocide. This step cannot generally happen without there being a war, but once war begins, the transition to it will be quick. At the very least, "enemy" groups will be placed in concentration camps and forced to labor with minimal resources ("because we're at war ... why would you spare extra food to the enemy?"). In the extreme, there will be gas chambers (or whatever the modern equivalent), but that only happened in Nazi Germany because 1) bullets were expensive and needed for the war, and 2) the Nazis were convinced race mixing and Jewish infiltration was the greatest threat to long-term Aryan supremacy.

It may not happen in the same way in the US, because the fascism of MAGA is based more around liberal degeneracy, domestic treachery, and jobs stealing. So they may choose ultimately to intern and deport, like they did the Japanese, rather than exterminate.

The end goal, however, will still be seizing of land, assets, etc. & ethnic cleansing. For all you Chinese Americans out there, I can't stress this enough - the Jews didn't think it was going to happen to them, either, until it did.

Fox finally uploaded the full clip. White House Security Advisor/Deputy Chief of Staff.

It is actually more arrogant than what the original shorten quote suggested.

Well, the United States also has considerable and profound economic leverage over China. First and most importantly, we underwrite the entire country. All of its development, All of its industrialization, All of its economic subsidy, All of those. When you see those photos of cities in the China looked like 10, 20 years ago, barren, desolate are and now these glittering skyscrapers, who do you think paid for all that? We did. We paid for literally all of it. I don’t want the get into it here, but there are many things that are essential to China’s security that they need from the United States with. China would be very wise to pursue the path of de escalation.

Navarro and the paleocons only see things through a lense of colonialism and exploitation.

I know @siegecrossbow is generally joking but actually learning XJP Thought will do wonders for the US ruling class. Broaden their mind, so to speak.

Especially since the recent spate of PRC wins has widened some other part of the neoliberal/conservative anatomy…
