He said he had been forced to take over the running of the plant because Jingye, which bought British Steel in 2020, had rejected the government's offers to buy raw materials to keep the blast furnaces running.

"Despite our offer to Jingye being substantial, they wanted much more. Frankly, an excessive amount. We did however remain committed to negotiation.

"But over the last few days, it became clear that the intention of Jingye was to refuse to purchase sufficient raw material to keep the blast furnaces running, in fact, their intention was to cancel and refuse to pay for existing orders.

"The company would therefore have irrevocably and unilaterally closed down primary steel making at British Steel."
Even oilfield will shut down if it isn't profitable.

AFAIK, China Southern had signalled selling the 787-8s for months, long before the trade war, so not related. They're keeping the 787-9s for long haul flights.
China Airlines usually sell their Boeings after 5 years, China Southern is usually late in selling off their older Boeings, and should come as no surprise. Replacing it with another brand is another thing. Are they replacing it with COMACS or Airbus?

Love how the Republicans thought just because Trump pulled back on tariffs for everyone except China, somehow that meant the whole world was going gang up on China. If anything has happened is the world trusts the US less and are more going to make deals with China not join the US.
Don't hold your breath. European and Canadian politicians are probably happy with this development. For the past few months, they've saying stuff like "hey we are allies! instead of imposing tariffs on each other, we should join forces to confront China - the real enemy."

Now you understand why most countries are just side characters in history. They don't have the balls to take action when it counts. Only yap.

A lot of countries (esp India lol) expected China to cave so easily. They really showed their true selves in that moment.
I would add Panama to the folded
I would also add Taiwan to folded

ROK change into the folded category, due to the shipbuilding co-op and shipbuilding offers

I would watch public sentiment more then government/politician interactions, because if the concession are too heavy then whoever is in control of the government may soon find themselves out of the government one way or another.

Their economies went into the crapper listening to Biden. It ain’t getting better following Trump. What am I holding my breath for? I’d rather see all of them suffer more.

Interesting because someone posted in here that clip of Alex Jones telling Joe Rogen about how Asians have some flip switch that turns them in mindless fierce fighting machines. It sounds racist and not surprising but I had to wonder how he came up with that especially since white supremacists think whites are a bunch of Rambos on the fighting field. Then I just heard that the New York Times had some article saying that the US fears fighting China in a war because it's authoritarian. So that's the connection and not because Alex Jones is a thinker. How is an authoritarian country more fearful to fight? It's because they think they can just "flip a switch" and the Chinese will fight to the bitter end because that's what authoritarian societies do. What happened to how the Chinese secretly love Americans and are waiting to revolt and fight for America against their own to be their slaves at any moment?

Americans act like they're all intellectual when all they're doing is connecting only the dots that serve their narrative. It's like you're seeing a lot of Americans in the media, government, and the military predicting China will invade Taiwan in 2027 like they know something no one else knows. Maybe it's because Xi told the military to be prepared to deal with Taiwan by 2027 is where they're such geniuses to predict that's when it'll happen.

Not so smart after all when all they're doing is repeating what someone in a higher authority in their eyes implied it first.
Another version of the China-schizophrenia i.e ,China is collapsing at the same time China is taking over the world-now mindless Chinese worker drones just aching to be Americans at a flip of the switch from Zhongnanhai they all become killer drones willing to destroy all Americans-FFS get your bullshit right westoids.
