In a comment to the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry, the commander of the anti-aircraft missile division of the Southern Group of Forces, call sign Lev, said that the Vityaz recently destroyed more than ten HIMARS shells. The American MLRS missiles were followed at a distance of over 90 km and intercepted at a range of about 70 km.
During "normal operation", the time from detection to target destruction for the Vityaz does not exceed eight seconds. In the conditions of the SVO zone, this figure is from one and a half to three seconds "regardless of the operating mode of the installation: automatic or with the participation of the operator."
The commander attributed the advantages of the Vityaz to its autonomy, mobility, cross-country ability in difficult road and weather conditions, and high speed of combat operations at the firing position.
In addition, the elements of the system are located at a considerable distance from each other, which increases the survivability of the air defense system in the event of enemy fire.
