Rubio, in Europe, says US has to 'reset the global order of trade' and Trump is 'absolutely right to do it'

Secretary of State Marco Rubio vowed Friday that the U.S. has "to reset the global order of trade" and that President Donald Trump is "absolutely right to do it."

Rubio, speaking at NATO headquarters in Brussels, made the remark after taking issue with a reporter’s claim that world economies are "crashing" in the wake of Trump’s "Liberation Day" tariffs.

"We have to be a country to think we're the largest consumer market in the world, and yet the only thing we export is services, and we need to stop that," Rubio said. "We need to get back to a time where we are a country that can make things, and to do that, we have to reset the global order of trade."

"So the president rightly has concluded that the current status of global trade is bad for America and good for a bunch of other people. And he's going to reset it, and he's absolutely right to do it," Rubio added.

The secretary of state said the "worst thing" the U.S. could do is leave the global trade system "the way it is forever."

"I mean, this is, just can't continue. We can't continue to be a country that doesn't make things. We have to be able to make things to provide jobs for Americans... it’s that simple," he said. "China, as an example. I mean, it's outrageous. I mean, they don't consume anything. All they do is export and flood and distort markets in addition to all the tariffs and barriers they put in place."

Rubio added, "If you're a company and you make a bunch of your products in China and all of a sudden shareholders or people that play the stock market realize that it's going to cost a lot more to produce in China, your stock is going to go down, but ultimately the markets, as long as they know what the rules are going to be moving forward, and as long as you can sustain where you're going to be, the markets will adjust."

"Businesses around the world, including in trade and global trade, they just need to know what the rules are. Once they know what the rules are, they will adjust to those rules," he said. "So I don't think it's fair to say economies are crashing. Markets are crashing because markets are based on the stock value of companies who today are embedded in modes of production that are bad for the United States."

Road to 1000% tariff here we come.

China doesn't warn US that often. It usually simply punches. The economic/diplomatic losses US got fighting China is possibly the single largest damage from sanctions alone without military conflict in history.

US went from the largest market in the world to struggling to afford groceries and surpassed in size by China. It went from the world no1 IT scene to indefinite hiring hiatus and massive stock market losses. Remember also that US' stock market serves to US as their only retirement fund as well. Americans felt the pain during Trump 1.0 and elected Biden on the promises of economic reform, only to elect Trump 2.0 because the economy remained equally bad. And now the economy continues to spiral down.

It's just that redditors in true Ah q fashion has learned to ignore reality:

"It is ok that the guy I provoked at the bar is just kicking my ribs in, AS LONG as he's not stomping on my head, he is still doing nothing, he is no danger to me and I'm walking away from this confrontation as the tougher guy, because the other guy didn't dare to retaliate!"

They’ve gone full Jai Hind. Never go full Jai Hind…

BEIJING, April 4 (Xinhua) -- China's General Administration of Customs (GAC) said on Friday that it has decided to suspend the exports of poultry meat from some U.S. firms to China as well as suspend the qualifications of some U.S. firms to export certain products to China.

Effective April 4, China will suspend the qualification of C&D (USA) Inc. to export sorghum to China. It will also suspend the qualifications of three other U.S. firms, namely American Proteins, Inc., Mountaire Farms of Delaware, Inc. and Darling Ingredients Inc., to export poultry meat and bone meal to China, the GAC said.

The decision came after Chinese customs detected excessive levels of zearalenone and mold in imported U.S. sorghum, and salmonella in imported U.S. poultry meat and bone meal, the GAC said in a statement, adding that the suspension aims to protect the health of Chinese consumers and the safety of animal husbandry sector in China.

In a separate announcement, the GAC also announced the immediate suspension of poultry meat imports from the two U.S. companies of Mountaire Farms of Delaware, Inc. and Coastal Processing, LLC.

The GAC said that this suspension follows the Chinese customs' detection on several occasions of the prohibited drug furacillin in imported U.S. chicken products and that the suspension decision is to protect the health and safety of consumers.

An official with the GAC said that the suspension of poultry meat import from the two U.S. companies would help prevent food safety risks from the source, and the decision was made in accordance with relevant Chinese laws and regulations and international standards.

"The above measures taken by the General Administration of Customs are necessary precautions to ensure food safety, and they are reasonable and in line with international norms," the official said.

China adds 11 U.S. firms to unreliable entity list

BEIJING, April 4 (Xinhua) -- China has added 11 U.S. firms, including Skydio and BRINC Drones, to its unreliable entity list, the country's commerce ministry announced on Friday.

These companies, in disregard of strong opposition from China, have undertaken so-called military technology cooperation with Taiwan, seriously undermining China's national sovereignty, security and development interests, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.

China holds the 11 firms accountable for their unlawful activities, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, according to the statement.

China always handles issues related to its unreliable entity list prudently, and only targets the very few foreign entities that undermine China's national security, the spokesperson said.

"There is nothing to worry about for honest and law-abiding foreign entities," said the spokesperson.

The Chinese government, as always, welcomes companies from all countries to invest and operate in China, and is committed to providing a stable, fair and predictable business environment for foreign enterprises that operate in accordance with laws and regulations, said the spokesperson.

I'm really starting to get annoyed with all those muh birthrate doomer videos on Korea and Japan. One came up in my YouTube feed. I'm beginning to think it's a western psyop.

I watched that video on how it said south Korea was doomed and I expected to see a lot of details but in the end it's just muh birth rate crap.

Don't get me wrong, low birth rates are a bad thing. But it's pretty much a global problem when even India has below replacement rate.

What I expected the video to include was stuff like how China took Korea's lunch yet little was mentioned. The amount is not exaggerated. According to the data provided by AI, China has eaten into industries related to shipbuilding, steel, electronics, cars and even semiconductors. Per the semiconductor thread, Samsung electronics is actually in trouble which I didn't think was possible. It's a significant amount too which cannot be ignored. Yet it was not mentioned.

When I only hear birthrates and not stuff from above, I begin to wonder about the honesty of it all. Same for Japan except it's even worse coz America neutered them with plaza accords and crushed their semiconductor industry yet they didn't mention it much and just blame birth rates.

When the west puts so much attention on Japan/Korea having low birthrates while not saying much on how they themselces had low birthrates for decades, I get suspicious. Also you have to wonder if this stuff will even work like they said since we know Ireland had a population collapse and France had a below replacement rate in the 19 century for quite a while. Yet those places are still alive to annoy us.

Again birth rates are a problem. But I feel there is an ulterior motive when they say put all your attention on them and not all the other stuff. Even with the birthrate stuff they don't mention much stuff like how many people can't even get stable well paying jobs or a house first before even considering settling down for kids. Is it because this will expose a much bigger problemvm that hits the nerves of a lot more people? From the big short movie they quoted an older studying saying every 1% increase in unemployment in the US leads to around 40,000 more deatha stemming from related factors. Maybe it's not THAT bad today but I'm pretty sure it has a rather nasty impact.
I get those videos. Yeah it’s not as much as China but they come across my homepage. But that’s how the algorithms work. It’s just like when you do a Google search on China. Nearly all of the results in the beginning are negative. Why? Because that’s how they manipulate it and also there’s a lot more articles bashing China.

I can recall long ago when comment sections on the internet first started if anyone remembers when CNN had comments on their articles. Indians were apparently operating them there, they would heavily censor them pro-India/anti-China. It was so obviously censored in general that CNN dropped their comments section when more and more were popping up everywhere else.
