Recently the movie《生息之地》produced by Yao Chen 姚晨 won best director award at the Berlinale film fest in Germany. The movie's winning was controversial in China, in part due to Yao's previous actions, in part due to feeling among Chinese that western film fests like to give awards to Chinese movies that 'showcase' the 'bad' sides of under-developed rural China.
Funny how they are so fascinated with it when they could always just go out to some middle of nowhere part of West Virginia (or equivalent) to get a similar experience.
They also don't think much of how its a problem except haha hillbillies.
I think we've crossed the Rubicon in terms of this stuff. I get the feeling from looking at Chinese social media that Chinese people and the government are generally much more open nowadays to having honest conversations about less positive aspects of both past and present-day China.
Confidence comes with power. Back in the Obama days when Lang Lang played a Korean War song in the White House no American threw a big fuss about it. But with the rapid shift in power dynamics nowadays they’ve gone full McCarthy.
Do they westoids/know that the slur "gook" is the word country in Korean which is quite close to Cantonese "gohk" which is pronounced nearly the same as many Korean ,Japanese,Vietnamese loan words from China(Tang dynasty era) and the modern Chinese Mandarin/GuoYu "Guo" -country.
If laziness,sloth and low-class crassness are "disabilities" then indeed 25 % of Britons are so afflicted-Yet when it comes to drinking,fornicating,brawling ,drug-taking these "disabled" seem to be very strong,vigourous and able bodied???When the money is ALL gone from the colonies and the lowliest of white/black/brown Brits can live generations on the Queen's/King's welfare dole just by asking as an imperial privilege ,what do you do with so many lazy,useless,shiftless parasites????
