Wanna know something funny.

Despite India being poor, things aren't cheap over there. They keep saying it's ok India has low cost of living. But relative to your salary etc things are quite expensive especially with all the tax being placed. In a way maybe it's more expensive than the west coz if you live upper middle class in say Europe you can still use the public infrastructure which is very good. In India you're def not gonna use that crap so be prepared to pay for overpriced taxis everyday so relatively speaking you're spending even more. It also costs more to buy iphones there than the west.

And imagine how bad it is for tourists. Apparently some crappy hotels somehow charge more than a decent hotel in say Guangzhou. Blows my mind how that's possible yet it is.
I was surprised by the prices in the upper class supermarket

Trump is saving the Liberal Party of Canada. From the Conservatives leading up to 30% for the last 1.5 years to only 5-8% in the last month.

Man. Who would have thought that Trump would save the Canadian Liberals.

Conservatives with an up to +30% lead for years to achieving an -2% lead in less than 2 months. Quite the impressive achievement.

Liberals Take Lead for First Time Since 2021

After nearly four years of Conservative dominance in the polls, the Liberal Party of Canada has taken a two-point lead among decided voters, overturning a 26-point deficit from just six weeks ago. Support for the Bloc Québécois has declined (-3 points), while the NDP vote continues to collapse (-4 points), further strengthening the Liberals. The Conservatives (-5 points) are facing headwinds from rising anti-Trump sentiment and anticipation surrounding the Liberal Party’s new leadership.

A strong majority (86%) of Canadians believe an immediate federal election is necessary to establish strong leadership and a clear mandate to address President Trump’s tariff threat—an urgency that has grown since January (+9 points). Nearly half (48%) of Canadians strongly support holding an election immediately.
Support for an immediate election is highest among Conservative voters (96%), followed by NDP voters (82%) and Liberal voters (74%).

These are some of the findings of an Ipsos poll conducted between February 21 and 24, 2025, on behalf of Global News. For this survey, a sample of 1,000 Canadians aged 18+ was interviewed online. Quotas and weighting were employed to ensure that the sample’s composition reflects that of the Canadian population according to census parameters. The precision of Ipsos online polls is measured using a credibility interval. In this case, the poll is accurate to within ± 3.8 percentage points, 19 times out of 20, had all Canadians aged 18+ been polled. The credibility interval will be wider among subsets of the population. All sample surveys and polls may be subject to other sources of error, including, but not limited to coverage error, and measurement error.

Voters are short sighted and they have the memory of goldfish. That's all this tells me.

It's the same in Africa. When I was there the supermarkets were ridiculously expensive. The only people who shop in these places are expats who want things from home they can't get elsewhere, breakfast cereals, cheese, etc. I don't know how they stay afloat.

People think PPP means everything is cheaper. Not true at all.

You've got to be specific on the country you were in in Africa. Different countries have different standards of living.

PPP means everything is cheaper if you can don’t need to import consumer goods and electronics.

Fox News in an interview after meeting Trump in Washington Monday.

Macron said Washington’s “priority is to put tariffs on China” and that fighting a trade war with Europe at the same time would go against U.S. interests.
