You're right it's mostly not "fake", the issue is just that China has even more wealth.
If US had only EU, Russia, Brazil or whoever to compete with, US would be doing positively amazing.

You have to understand - Indo-Europeans have a 3,000+ years obsession with apocalyptic religions. From the Viking Ragnarok to the Christian Rapture to the Hindu Pralaya, Indo-Europeans are consumed by the idea that we are racing to the “end times” when the world will descend into chaos and then be reborn in fire.
