While I'm sure there are people selling blood in both countries, the problem with the US is that its life expectancy is lower than China's currently. Usually, life expectancy is strictly related to per capita income positively. Yet China now has a slightly longer life expectancy with only a fraction of America's personal income. Furthermore, the inequality in life expectancy among Americans is growing.
