Xiaohongshu hitting top download is interesting because TikTok isn't actually getting censored, at least not yet, it's just banned from doing business in the US, but Xiaohongshu doesn't do business in the US to begin with.

So it's almost a test to see how many Americans will just download the TikTok app off their website and continue to use it, except now the servers are in China and US has zero control over content.
I was just thinking, wont US tiktok ban, aside from data storage elsewhere, just decrease their influence in "moderating" it?

I'm already starting to wonder about the percentage of women on the Bill Clinton.
“What did you do, Li? Two carriers started bombing each other. ”
“I told the captain of the other carrier that his wife was on the Clinton.”
“Wait, really?”
“Not sure, I didn't recognize which one is his wife.”

I admit the internet social media thing never really caught on with me so I don't know a lot of how it works but why doesn't this Little Red Book thing just make an English version if all these American TikTokers are going to it?
Someone's gotta start teaching Americans Chinese, might as well start from the little red book.

Chinese people would say there is a new lighthouse in town.

This is the part I don't quite understand of the rush of TikTok refugees. If it is downloadable, accessible to their data, why in a rush to join Rednote?

What does that "banned from doing business in the US" mean? Can TikTok users in US still access their own data and update unhindered? Or that "doing business" is only about TikTok the company not able to sell advertisement to US entities etc.?

The migration to Xiaohongshu is hilarious, but it makes me think that the whole idea of operating an app for international users exclusively is a little short sighted. Having Chinese apps run on Chinese servers, subject to Chinese content moderation, and open to international users might just be the way to go.
