Man seeing what LKY said openly without fear and how the modern leaders of Singapore turned out makes me mad.
Guess he was from a tough era and the newer ones don't know that toughness.
As the saying goes: "Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times”
The current crop of leaders in Singapore and frankly elsewhere in the west can't be faulted for their relative weaknesses with regards to their handling of the countries they inherited. They are, just like we are, and the people that came before then, are all products of our time and environment. To expect LKY's progeny and the successive leaders of Singapore to be as tough minded and resolute is asking for too much.
With the sole exception of GenSec Xi Jinping. His life has been mired with hardships from his family (Father) fallen out of favour with Mao; then having his family being sent to the countryside to work like peasants. Xi Jinping living in a cave as a communist cadre serving the people. Having applied and denied party membership multiple times. The man is very stoic either out of necessity or borne from experience.
