what do you mean by close combat fighting system? The gun? the martial arts?

I mean the "close combat fighting system", like the israeli Krav Maga (hebrew for close combat) or the russian Systema Sambo. Not a martial art, though, since it doesn't include a philosophy : The technique they use for bare handed combat. :nono:
Does it have a name? Is it inspired by a traditional KungFu Wushu school, like Win Chun?

They might have some aspiration for something like F-35 project, but I see the resources better spent in other areas. They've had no VSTOL aircraft development experience, it's simply too much to ask for a modern VSTOL fighter out of the aerospace industry.

I have only seen few pictures of it… It seams somewhat heavy for 5.8mm SAW…

Actually its not intended as a SAW but rather a GPMG. It seems china is making an effort to go with one universal small arms caliber, although i have serious doubts that even the heavy MG/sniper loading of the 5.8x42 will have the range and power to fill the GPMG roll.

That doesn’t sound to smart to me… I joust hate “one size fits all” way of thinking. IMHO it would be much better if PLA would stick whit old 7.62x54 for GPMG and use 5.8mm as SAW ammo.
