Actually the first place record for most olympic golds in 1 olympic game belongs to the US... the second place belongs to the Soviet Union. Third place to the US again.

Ummmmm.......Actually until China wins 84 gold it hasn't set any record. The Official record is held by the United states 83 gold. At the ST Louis Olympic. the USA won .78 Gold 82 silver 79 bronze for a total of 239 medals... the most any country has won

You could actually argue that you can only compare the Olympics that BOTH USA and CHINA participated in

Ma Yanhong's uneven bars routine can no longer be performed after they changed the rule. (Nice one.. planned ahead)
Also under the new ruling, Mo Huilan uneven bars routine that awed the crowd, became a technical fault. (which was ?)
Liu Xuan's uneven bars one armed routine, which was the most difficult in the competition. Yet, the woman technical committee awarded it a very low C rating, citing they didn't not want to encourage it. ( Obviously, no rules were broken here)
Having performed an outstanding bean routine, Kui Yuanyuan got the bronze medal. The organizing committee later apologized to her but said they couldn't give her the gold she deserved because the medal was already given away. (strange reason)
The Female cycling team incident was a classic Rigged operation.
People, get over it. Stop obsessing over every medals and the "injustices" against China. They didn't win gold in every events that they were favourite in. Guess what? That happens. The Chinese team did well in some events and badly in some other events. They got a lot of judging advantage from last Olympics as the host country. That's certainly not going to happen again this Olympics.
Winning the Olympics medals count does not make you a great nation, it just means you have a large population with a lot of money and athletic traditions. Be proud of your country, but don't make it a bigger deal than it actually is.

There are over 300 medal events in the Olympics. China won medals in 87 of then, and gold in 38 of them.
Most of the complaints in this thread revolves around 4-5 suspicious/questionable incidents.
How does that make us "obsessing over every medal"? Are we supposed to just ignore these incidents?
You can say that unfair judging happens to every country, and I'm sure they do. Canada, for example, was robbed for a gold/silver medal in women's soccer.
However, this is the sinodefence forum. People come here to talk about China. If we wanted to complain about injustices happening to some other country, we wouldn't be posting about it here.
So are you of the opinion that just because unfair judging happens to other countries than China, we should be ignoring it?

Before any comparison is done, ones must look at all the facts. In fact, China did win this Olympics. U.S. sent over 530 athletes to the Olympics while China sent roughly over 300, who actually took part in the games. Of course, U.S. will be on top of the chart because they have 200 more athletes to compete. If they sent the same number like China did, then they are good. But, in this case, they won by sheer number.
All I shall state is that I agree with tphuang.
