It is also so predictable that all the media would only focus on China despite the fact that only one of the four teams disqualified was Chinese that it ceased to be funny long ago.

All the media? The BBC TV news report on it the following morning said that the teams were from South Korea (and indicated it was two teams), China and Indonesia - they didn't even put them in alphabetical order. They did not focus just on the Chinese team.

I also did a quick search in google news and came across the following articles.

They all mention the four teams that were disqualified. And it's hardly surprising that the Chinese team might get a little more attention - they were the top seeds.

Well apart from the bare minimum required to convey the fact that other countries' teams were DQed, how much of the coverage actually even mentioned anyone but China? How many of the follow up opinion pieces mentioned the other teams more than once? How many of the articles even bothered to elaborate on the possible consequences of not just the 'Chinese top seeds', but the Olympic top seeds being QDed on the likely outcome on the medals podium?

This is so clearly a case of the media desperate for something negative to report on on China instead of a case of people actually giving a crap about badminton as you are suggesting.

Tge media was on a witch hunt from the get go, that is the only reason the baseless accusations about Ye doping managed to get so much traction despite their not being a single shred of proof throughout. Had Leonard or some other fool made such a claim about an athlete from any other country besides China, he would have been shouted down and told to keep his baseless accusations to himself unless there is proof. If there would have been stories written about the accusations, the main thrust would be how utterly baseless and ridiculous it is to make such claims without any proof.

You should know that the western media has gone too far when one of its own members comes out and says things are beyond ridiculous.

Personally I think China should stop pursuing the kind of "respect" from international community events like these. I know some think I'm talking about aggression. Of course to some stopping China from pursuing acceptance placing China in a lower position and others in a higher position is at the same level of alarm as an act of aggression. After Brazil, China should stop attending the Olympics because of their continued disrespect. I'm not saying this out of anger because of what's happening in London. I'm not at all surprised this is happening. Anything China sees internationally of value that especially critics are in control of, they're going to use it to embarrass China. How do you stop it? Don't value it in the first place. How do you slay a god? Stop worshipping it and it will wither away and be never heard from again. China should continue to pursue sporting achievements just not at the Olympics... to the least just to show them their records will be broken. The only big sporting powerhouse is the US. People noted in here how there seems to be a lot of support for Ye in the international community. I've notice that too but I think it's because more people are sick of the US winning than they believe Ye is innocent. And that's coming from their fellow traditional allies that hold the same values.

I would have to disagree with what you said there. That is like saying I am going to do poorly on my tests so people don't call me a nerd. If China stops competing in the Olympics, the Western media will spin it again against China.
People will hate regardless of what China does UNLESS you start following the US way. You don't see India getting bashed often (or at all) in the media because they do what US wants them to do.

I somehow doubt the US or western media would be quite so benevolent if India was doing as well as China.

In any case, The West has forgotten about their own propaganda. The London Olympic is no longer about sportmanship and is more about gamemanship. It is now less about sacrifice, glory and prestige but more a negativity campaign. Sad to say it is becoming the London Gamemanship Olympic

Yeah if you advertise it like the typical Chinese communist reaction sounding like a cry-baby. I don't think you understand what I'm saying because I didn't say anything that China shouldn't compete. It's the Olympics that are political. All the other international competitions where China can show their stuff and continue to break their records are not used for political puposes because it doesn't get that kind of attention. Those records can still be broken outside the Olympics. Are they any less because they weren't broken in the Olympics? Same competitors there and in the Olympics. Is breaking an Olympic record in swimming at 2mins 30secs more valuable than breaking the world record at 2mins?

I reckon, barring upsets and from this point in time, I reckon China could win another 22 gold to the US 20.

I dont know whether Ive made a mistake big time but i give China another 42 place Medals to the U.S 18.

Its pleasing to see the Chinese Cyclists win their ist gold medal only to be relegated back to second for a tech foul.

It's pleasing to see that the Brits only won because of their compete level and sportsmanship conduct!

Obviously given the double standards in place no one will formally criticize the Brits for falling out of their bikes on purpose. ;)

amazing.. despite the fact that China is doing outstanding in these London games some of you are crying about the media attention on China. Get over yourselves. Enjoy the sport of the games.

Like I stated before.. scoreboard. China now has 18 Gold medals.

That just demonstrates the beauty in the freedom of the Press. If the roles were reversed would the Chinese press report it? Nah not in a zillion years;)

Actually I was meaning that it was a pity for them to have to be regulated back for their tech foul. Any way the ruling official was obliged to do it because he earler disqualified the British who were odds on to win it for a similar tech foul.
