careful with guns, dtulsa :) there should be up to five of them already, three calibers:

I did a google search a moment ago; didn't see this figure in the first three pages, which means either I'm sloppy, or it wasn't made publicly available

I've heard :)

1. As to the mk 29 launcher it would seem logical due to its weight and capability to launch up to 8 essm its not much different than the current searam as far as weight goes. 2. The choice of a 76mm gun that would replace the current mk 110 gun. 3.As to searam range that comes from the manufact. website and usni website as well as other websites out there. 4. The new ssc frigs. will not be required to be so multi. mission rather than focused primarily on ASW and surface warfare 6. Some of these changes just could be easily done and not require a lot of modification of the current design and result in significant increased capabilities. 7. The mark 29 launcher is for essm and seasparrow currently used on carriers and various types of ships. Could also use the mark 56 though that would some modification and find a spot for it. 8.The harpoon 3 apparently a missile being designed to compete with the new generation of antiship missiles such as the nsm/jsm

Apparently if Ime right all Lcs ships will be reclassed as frigates according to Wikipedia so we should arm them as such that is my opinion.

I do not think that is correct.

What the source article actually says is that the twenty new vessels will be designated FFs. These are the so-called "up gunned" LCS they are talking about.

USNI said:
...the 20 ships in the new frigate class...are set to be acquired starting in Fiscal Year 2019, will add about $50 to 60 million in weapons, sensors and armor to beef up the existing Flight 0 Austal USA Independence and Lockheed Martin Freedom class designs which are now being built for about $500 million a hull on average.

It also states the following about the existing LCS that receives some of the upgrades.

USNI said:
As the existing Flight 0 LCS are modified and back fitted with additional capabilities, they could earn the FF label.

No final decision has been made on changing the first 32 vessels to FF once they are upgraded. it is possible...and that's all we know at this point.
