Good question. In fact the whole design of the LCS was meant to operate in the littorals like in the Persian Gulf. I think the confidence in the crewing structure and that the vessel is capable in performing to expectations is low and hence the reluctance to task them for missions.

Another answer could be they simply are outgunned ny even the Irainians which from what we were told is exactly what they were made for

there's an even bigger US Military feat: the F-35 Program

The LCS is quite capable (on paper) of taking on those tiny Iranian boats. Tasking them though in the Persian Gulf is too high profile in case their engines break down and with so many eyes watching. It will be bad publicity for the program. The USN needs more confidence building in the platform before tasking them for serious task.

I know you don't think highly of the F-35 program but you don't have to advertise it even on this thread. Lol.

Lordy Brumby if they dont have confidence in them after 10 plus year they most likely will never have any in other words LCS is a FAILED MULTIBILLION PROGRAM not unlike the Zummies amd their AGS system

Getting to deployment readiness takes time. According to the latest plan, don't expect any deployment to the Persian Gulf until 2023.

the reason to build the USN LCSs are two shipyards and electorate in their neighborhoods (while spin doctors feed fanbois stories about incredible future capabilities etc.); in the meantime

Iran Has Hundreds of Naval Mines. U.S. Navy Minesweepers Find Old Dishwashers and Car Parts.
As tensions heat up in the Persian Gulf, the Navy’s minesweeping fleet may once again be called into action, but its sailors say the ships are too old and broken to do the job. “We are essentially the ships that the Navy forgot.”

LOL I generally don't post about stuff below 100m but now I will:

wondering what kind of activity it actually is (plus waiting for the Saudi Arabia to pay six bil for LCSs hahaha I know they'll able to do it)

no illuminator probably implies an actively guided
Evolved Seasparrow Missile Block II

anyway the graphics shows what the USN LCS variant could've become, but hadn't due to its revolutionary transformational game-changing lack of armament

Yep and some 10 plus years later we are still lamenting that fact only thing I would add is another 8 cell VLS for a total of 16 but the Saudi version is a lot better than our Little Crappy Ships

If there's space for a vls, why did navy try out the hellfire vls and not mk41 based armament?
