China is fortifying defences across Ladakh border, not prepping to disengage

You'll now see jingoistic Indian media replying by claiming that India has matched it and have fortified their defences too (as if it s a victory). They dont realise that with the condition Indian economy is in right now they dont have the financial resources to man another active border. They'll be left with virtually no money for Capital expenditure to modernize their armed forces. (Infact 59% of Indian defence budget is spent on salaries and pensions compared to 30% in China)
The financial condition is such that India recently put forward a proposal to slash pensions of retired personnel.

China will emerge as the short term and long term winner in all this.

This is going to suck for India for decades to come. There lack of critical thinking is going to shatter the nation, and all this because they just can’t resist the urge to try and fight China with the worst possible hand available. The surround countries are going to have to take heed of this development because opportunities are coming (just not for India)

Agreed. All this could easily be solved if they set aside their ego and resolve the Kashmir dispute. The tens of billions of dollars they spend there could then be diverted to poverty alleviation . But no, India is super duper global power no.1 and hence wont talk about it.

I watched about 12 Indian Channels and 15 Newspapers, all crying hoarse about denying DEW use by China..same strategy was adopted by Indian media on 27th Feb 2019,when Pakistan air force shot down two of IAF jets, denied it..same strategy was adopted when Indian Army Chief dismissed Chinese reclaiming of 1200 sq kms in disputed Ladakh..so u can expect same thing from Indian media..yes,after the dust settles..gradually u will find some leaks in India media that something happened on 29th August and some troops had nausea and skin burns..thats classic cover up

The Indian media cried hoarse about the crash of its own Mil 17 helicopter claiming various theories ranging from technical failures to terrorist activity from a MANPAD. The poor widows of the pilot abd 6 other crew and personnel aboard the helicopter were asking questions about the real reason for the crash. Pakistani and foreign military analysts had speculated correctly that the helicopter had been shot down by a surface to air missile fired by India's own air defenses leading to the prompt sacking of the Air Officer Commanding Western Air Command. India officially admitted the cause of the crash 4 months later but still denied the AOC was sacked saying that he "retired " on that particular day.
There is not much credibility left in Indian media statements official or otherwise.

Following up on my suggestion that that Chinese DEW weapon employed on Indian troops was indeed a sonic weapon. There's an article in Popular Mechanics last year describing alleged Chinese sonic weapons.

The article is written by Kyle Mizokami. Not my favourite defence writer. So believe it if you want. Nevertheless, if the weapon indeed uses weaponized infrasound. Then that kind of weapon could have tremendous range. Because long wavelengths can travel quite far.
