EM cat can launch aircraft beyond 40t.

EMALS's launch energy is 122MJ. PLAN papers often quote this number in their design too, so I assume Fujian's figure is around the same. To compare, steam cat's launch energy is 95MJ. So EM cat is 28% higher meaning 1.28 times of max launch weight. If F-35A's MTOW is 32t launched from a steam cat, EM cat can in theory lauch anything up to 41t only limited by structural strength of the aircraft.

Another thing to think is that steam cat has huge force at the begining and much lower force in the end. This means given the equal launch engergy (accelerating the same mass from 0 to takeoff speed), aircraft will be subjected to mucher higher stress from a steam cat. This means even if the steam cat's top energy is enough to launch X tonne, it may break it, so EM cat can always launch heavier load with the same energy.

Note that the F-14 MTOW is even higher than for the F-35

IMO, it seems KJ-600 unfortunately still uses WJ-6, the annular intake is still there while I'm pretty sure AEP400/500 uses different intake as seen with models and the testbed. I wonder why they would still use WJ-6 despite the rumors about unsatisfactory performance of that model.View attachment 160113

This, as far as I know AEP500 is fully ready but they are not using it. There were alot of claims previously about KJ-600 with AEP400/500 before as well.

PS: Or actually maybe it is AEP400 via this illustration

We see KJ-600 prototypes flying around long before seeing APX00 on testbed, right? Once you have something designed around a core component and reaching the finish line, you don't switch that major components no matter how ready and how good it is because of all the redoing. You do that switching in a new variant which will take many years. Wanting to have everything latest and best has failed and crippled many programs in many countries.

Stupid question CEC stands for Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC)?
that's what they are saying, but I'm not actually convinced that's what this antenna is for.

Does anyone know who made that claim? Why do you need such a large antenna for CEC?

One of the only major differences I noticed between the KJ-600 and the E-2D is that the E-2D has that intake on the lefthand side of the aircraft. Does anybody know what that is for? Outside of that, the E-2D uses an eight blade propeller vs six on the KJ-600.
