Well ... that's for me the surprise of the month!
The fact that the Myanmar Air Force receives JF-17B twin-seater even before the PAF is a major surprise. ;)

Guys, yesterday I was surprised, now - if true - I am ashamed.
Already yesterday one small comment noted, this aircraft no. 17-07 is not real, but in fact it would be a photoshop-fake, based on an image of the #03 prototype.
Now I just got note via a reliable source, this accusation is correct. Seems as if someone made a perfect PS-job and I'm sure, he/she has some fun during the last hours.

What do you say? can anyone confirm it as fake or indeed as a real one??

So that's 99.9% confirmation JF-17 downed a Su30. Many will be upset & I don't only mean IAF fans. :)
Hi,

What will get people crazy when they really find out the identity of the pilot from a "certain" country was flying the aircraft---that is when things will go haywire---.

The first statements from Imran Khan and DG ISPR stated an X number of enemy pilots taken into custody---. That is the real number---.
Assuming if that patch can conclusively proof anything to begin. Playing the devil's advocate here, India can just as easily put out a patch claiming to shoot down a PAF F-16 and none would be the wiser.
There is a already a moratorium on making speculative claims in this matter, so I suggest that we adhered to it and end this immature oneupmanship.

A bit of a letdown, but the JF-17 apparently will not be making an appearance at the LIMA 2019. I have never understood Pakistan on this matter, on one hand they are really wanting to sell this plane, on the other they sure are missing alot of good advertisement chances.
It was the same story at the Bahrain Air Show a few years back. And if they keep this up, people are going to draw lines where there aren't any to begin with.

Because although Pakistan has the best pilots they have the worst PR team and even worse advertising strategy

They actually tell the pilots to sell the JF17 at air shows, poor pilots only know how to fight they are not salesmen

I remember one guy was saying at a airshow yes plane is great and it’s really CHEAP

Then he went onto say the word CHEAP another 15 times while interviewer was like ok we get it

It’s not freggin cheap it provides a affordable platform with robust capabilities, they are really good at putting people off

Pakistan can’t do selling, that’s why they set up the joint Sino-Pak sales team which got first foreign orders

If it was down to Pakistan would never have happened

But still Pakistan is not selling this aircraft

Bad decisions still being made which is why it’s not selling

While the above may be true, it doesn't explain why they pulled out of performing in the airshow. Of course it may be a totally innocent and understandable reason which has nothing to do with fear of revealing something that can hurt its chances of getting more export orders. It is a disappointment the team doesn't plan on performing it but it could have been a decision made by the Malaysians.

It would be better to market it as a high end alternative to MiG-29 and MiG-21 BIS. People like high end. 23 million is not too cheap but not too expensive. Slightly more expensive than MiG-29, but make sure to emphasize it is much better. Comparing it to F-16V and Su-35S is not smart, they're of completely different size and age. That only makes it look bad. Imagine if Boeing argue "You should buy our F-16, it is much worse than J-20 but much cheaper" It does them no favors.

People like stuff like iPhones and Huaweis. Slightly better than other alternatives, slightly more expensive so they feel they get a premium product, without fleecing them. That's how demand is created. Also limit the release of products to make it more exclusive. China got a large amount of contracts with the non aligned world by marketing this way, despite having no direct allies there.

Also don't be afraid to back out of selling to countries that don't behave. That makes a country look desparate.

I think it's because they are trying to reset the marketing message in preparation for the Block III.

Would be best to lay low until they can unveil a production copy next year, and then start fresh.

Not much point in bringing the Block II when they are actually making a sales pitch for the Block III.

The problem with that is the JF-17 is competing in sales with the F-16. Unless you can offer a better deal than that it is difficult you will make a sell. There are hundreds of second hand F-16s soon going to flood the market.
