Hi,
Air Marshall Shahid Latif---the director of the JF17 program---was one of the first pilots in training in US in the early 80's---he then became a instructor for future pilots in the Paf---.
Later got transfered to the JF17 head of program later---. When it came time for him to be considered as air chief marshall---a western nation objected hard and strong on that promotion due to his views and association with the chinese fighter program.
Latif mentioned in his interview---as the chinese technology progressed---the chinese were able to manufacture for the JF17what the Paf had required of them---and then later on Paf influenced the changes in the of the J10 which resulted in what the J10 is now---.
How far did the Paf's influence in design change to and to what other aircrafts---it is a wild guess---but that western power knew about it and never wanted Latif to lead the Paf---.
It’s a very mutually beneficial relationship between China and Pakistan.
China gets invaluable insight from PAF pilots who have flown some of the best fighters from the west for Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan gets one of China’s, hell even the world’s, top aviation companies tailor designing fighters for them.
Have there been any news or credible rumours about PAF reaching out to SAC about the J31?
I would be amazed if the PAF is not already looking towards next gen types to follow the JF17, the big question is how many more blks might come for the JF17 before the focus shifts to the next gen fighter.
