I came across this on PDF, thanks to Bilal Khan of Quwa. I do not think this has been shared on this thread.

I dislike the source, because it is massively tainted. I would have liked to read the interview of Air Chief Marshal Aman Khan on some other website, but this is how it is.

The interview is not about JF-17, but it is mentioned a number of times. For long people on this forum questioned the utility of this plane and asked about its role in PAF operations. I had explained that until there is some serious cleaning up of terrorists, relevant information would not emerge. Now that there is Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force have a firm grip on the situation of terrorism thanks to many sacrifices by the army and intensive, intelligence-based operations by PAF, the role of JF-17 is being acknowledged and affirmed.

I think Pakistan Air Force ought to look into the Boom-Drogue hybrid IFR system in the not too distant future. Something along the lines of Airbus A-330 MRTT. Given PAF's operational doctrine, they will naturally evolve to Boom-Drogue IFR system.

JF17 in the air to air mode yes

But for air to ground we need to wait and see how the pairing goes with ASELPOD with Chinese PGM for JF17 Block III

As a matter of fact I believe it's working well

First order was in 2016 then a follow up order of more pods signals that PAF is happy with these pods

WMD-7 was dropped over Turkish design, more technical challenges but diversity

If JF17 Block III can carry out precision strikes with accuracy of F16 Sniper pod then we can say JF17 can truely replace F16

Because given the choice for ground attack PAF will use F16 with sniper over any other platform

Moving ground target 70 mph aircraft 20,000ft in the air off bore sight launch missile hit target that is the aim for Block III for counter insurgent role

One more to add to land sea and air true multi role capability

In my view, Pakistan Air Force really ought to conduct counter terrorism ops using UCAVs, Super Mushaks and K-8Ps. We need to rapidly expand, upgrade and enhance our UCAV capability. Using F-16s, Thunders or any other manned combat aircraft in conjunction with UCAVs is the way forward. Saves PAF time, money, expands unmanned horizons and pushes us to achieve greater capability with AI.

UCAV still have very high crash rate pretty quickly you will see PAF budget vanish into obscurity if they started using UCAV for COIN

A UCAV probably even cost more than JF17!

UCAV is big boys business
