Can you provide a source that Pakistan asked for J-11?

Also, what do you mean by lets not go so far so fast?

giving nuclear weapon secret back in the days does not mean they are willing to give their best now. Yes, they did deny J-11B to Pakistan. As I said before, there are certain weapon systems in PLA that is off limits for export. You can accept it or not, but that's the truth. As for 054A, they certainly have plans to export it, but only after the ship fulfills domestic needs. And they certainly will not export something like 052C. As for Yuan, there is also currently no plans to export it. However, Song is on the market. As I said before, this argument that Pakistan has access to more advanced weapon does not work, because China doesn't need to export these systems. It's domestic orders are enough to sustain the military complex.

Me too, I just wonder when did Pakistan asked for J-11

according to one of the most reliable sources I encountered on Chinese bbs.

Other than PAF's order, there hasn't been any order signed so far. Other than Egypt and Iran, I can't think of anyone who would put the kind of order that will really build up the export count to 800. So, let's see some real contract getting signed first. K-8 has by any standard been really really successful and I doubt it can even hit 800 in exports.

So has anybody heard any word on the JF-17 trainer variant? I haven't really heard anything about them since 2005 myself but a trainer/fighter export combo would be very attractive to countries on a budget that want to reduce overheard on things like spare parts and maintenance and such

From the images of the cockpit, the JF-17 may compare well with the cockpit of the F-16 C at least. Although it is an advanced 4th G combat jet, I don't think Pakistan will really be concerned whether PLAAF inducts it or not because it's main purpose is to kickstart the obsolete aviation industry of Pakistan (just what the LCA is to India). Even license manufacturing this will be a significant learning curve for Pak, given that their current expertise does not extend beyond repair/overhaul and assembling small crafts.

I think PLAAF has not chosen the FC-1 not because it doesn't fit it's requirement, but because the PLAAF does not want too many types of aircraft for similar or overlapping purposes. If the J-8 and J-7 are already available as 'workhorses', it does not see the need for one more jet of the same class.

What Pakistan appears to have contributed to the JF-17 is the complete access to F-16's 'persona'. I've said before that it's wing layout is unmistakably like that of F-16. AVIC would also have learnt about the standards used in western avionics. There are unconfirmed reports about a Pak based company having developed the simulator for the JF-17.

Oh okay, so its not a public source.

Agreed.

I'm still not sure what you meant by "lets not go so far so fast".

I believe there was a news roughly a year ago that work on a 2-seat ground-attack version has begun, which could be ideal for training. No word since then.

The following photos show a model of a possible indigenous jet engine for the JF-17. The engine is a bit small for use on the J-10, but it's the right size for the JF-17.
