Re: New JF-17/FC-1 Fighter Aircraft thread

After the last March 23rd ceremony was over i believe the red-green was repainted before weapons integration started. They were photographed again over Kourakaram ranges in the north as well as over islamabad.
This is the same 101 which was in red-green on 23rd March.

I agree the planes look nice. But smoke is terrible. I hope they will fix that damn RD-93 some time soon.

with this multirole debate, currently without any hard evidence that its a pure multi-role fighter, i would say that its currently a air superioty fighter with secondary surface strikes. But this isnt to say that it wasnt built as a multi-role platform fighter. It was built with room for future installation of hardware, upgrades, add-ons and modifications. So as soon as something is suitable to be installed on FC-1 platform i would say its for air defence role currently, with capability of dumb munition drops.

Looks like the black smoke problem has not been solved even for the latest aircrafts coming into PAF. If it were an automotive engine, that would be carbon particles due to incomplete burning of fuel but not sure we can draw a parallel here. Hopefully the future indigenous replacement for the aircraft's engine would not have this problem.

I'm not sure maybe they're deliberately putting in a little smoke trail just for the show. If you check the other pictures, there is only a trace or whiff of smoke.

I agree with crobato.I have seen them both on 20 and 23rd March.Smoke starts coming out just seconds before they go into bomburst formation.

I kind of realize now that that's way too much black smoke to be coming out of a normal working jet engine. :D
We'll know the actual story when we see more new pictures of the JF-17.

The Thunder is under evaluation by the PLAAF.

Have they decided to include them in their inventory or not?.
