are they (CWIS and Searams) Japanese ?
Just curious why Japanese use foreign engines? no Japanese engines available or good enough for such high tech gas turbine?

Using off the shelf technologies in indigenous designs is common practice, especially when the nations involved are signatories to multiple economic and security treaties.
Look at the Russians who because of political backlash against them lost German engines for some of there frigates.
Or the Chinese use of Russian Jet engines in there fighters as well as Russian CIWS on some PLAN vessels.
Or the standard family of missiles on Korean navy ships.
German tracks on M1 Abrams upgrades.
A French gun being added to a English IFV.
American gun sights on German Assault rifles.
Israeli missiles fired from German tanks.

The list is nearly end less.

You don't arm yourself for bragging rights, and you do it by the most economical way so you can purchase enough. You're also required to maintain provisions for all the equipment you procured. The GE marine turbine is a major seller around the world so parts can be obtained around the world and is not shrouded with black box. Japan and many nations around the world would procure military equipment from other nations if they are free from proprietorial technology and those are examples are one of them.

Now the big question is what kind of strategy does those equipment fit in. Japan naturally figured those out before constructing those ships, can the same be said for PRC?

And Russian example explains why you should not use foreign components for domestic defense products . It leaves you exposed to political pressure and limits your independence in foreign policy ;)

Well It's a Example I think more of using such from a Supplier who may be forced to terminate contracts due to shifts in your Foreign Policy. IE had the Ukraine situation not happened the Russians would have there LHA's and Frigates. Japan and the US are unlikely to be placed in the same positions as Russia, France and Germany
