Actually the CG of shown there, looked alot like highly modified Su-27 or J-11. Which I find not very stealthy... it just have certain stealth property but looked much worst as compare to even the Russian's T-50.

Re: New Generation Fighter

I am leaning towards the bold part...

The canards and the wing are not in the same line. Bad for stealth from what I've heard. J-XX is said to have the canards and the main wing in the same line.

I am leaning towards what 70092 posted sometime back : Post no. 442

Actually I thought the one shown in post 442 is similar to the one shown in the magazine. What is shown in post 442 is only a top view where the alignment of the canards with the wings cannot be shown.

Wings + canards being in the same line came from PLAAF interview. I think it was on CCTV (not sure). Specifically stated the canards must be in the same line as the main wing to preserve the plane's stealthiness. Others were the plane having a very low, blended profile and having small all-moving tail. It seems they wanted the to eliminate the tail altogether but that changed.

70092 should have better info on this...

it doesn't make sense that the weapon bay in under the intake wouldn't that required a lot of space and make the aircrat bulkier that what the picture may look

Re: New Generation Fighter

there's 50-50 chances that China may end up buying T-50.
But T-50 is not very well designed, and the Russians have yet to prove that they are able to provide any of the sensors, avionics and weapons fo it.

Agreed with dingyibvs. What makes you say that? Any T-50 that will be offered to PRC with be dumbed-down version. It seems this is one part of the agreement between India & Russia regarding the T-50. Obviously the Russian will have the best version. India's will have their own version but any version offered to PRC would be less advanced that the Indian one let alone the Russian one.

Add to that, It seem PRC is not too impressed with the T-50 especially when it comes to the category of stealth. The J-XX program is going full steam ahead. Whether the 1st flight will be in 2011-2012 or later is another matter. But they are fully committed to the program.

The only possibility I see PRC buying the T-50 would be if the there were catastrophic failures in the CAC J-XX program as well as what ever next generation program PRC is having. But that would be disastrous for the PRC.

there are a lot of technology such as compact high T:W HP TF engine, and electronic technology still beyond the capability of Chinese aerospace .
In there own admission ,while they have no problem RAM,the biggest was the was the engine. and the ability to mass produce T/R MMIC which critical .
other such as composite fiber technology.

So let's say you're right, when do you think the T-50 will be ready to be sold to China? It seems to me that the T-50 still needs to a lot of work to become a true 5th gen fighter, and it'll take even longer for the Russians to build one that satisfies the PLA's requirement which they're also willing to sell to China. Even if we assume that your pessimistic view of the Chinese engine and semiconductor industries are correct, doesn't it seem pretty likely that the Chinese will be able to overcome those technological bottlenecks by the time they can buy the 5th gen aircraft they need from Russia?
