That fighter-bomber is developed at SAC, not CAC, and expected to be even larger than J-20, so not a middle-weight fighter. I dont think currently there is another single-engine 5th generation fighter programme running in China, well, of cause, besides unmanned aircrafts.

Actually, due to the arrangement of internal weapon bay, there may be of little point to develop single-engine middle weighted stealth fighter/strikers, etc.

Do you know the designation of this SAC fighter-bomber? J-12? J-14?

Don't know it's designation - well not yet . This drawing is from an AVIC chart, (too large to post the whole thing here as I do not have enough of quota space). On this particular chart there are some un-identified aircraft types that I was unaware of before, but there are many that are familiar to me. Also, there is a variant of the J-10 that AVIC refers to as the "J-16A" The aircraft from Shenyang is a large fighter-bomber type of aircraft and to me looks like a cross between an F-111 and a Flanker, but flattened out in frontal cross-section. The aircraft circled in blue pen-work is of course the Chengdu J-20. The Shenyang aircraft is located directly below it.

Can you give me the link to the source for the SAC fighter-bomber and the J-16A? I heard that it will make its first flight in 2011.

And isn't the "J-16" designation given to the stealth J-11B developed by SAC?
