Hmmm ... that's highly likely - at least for sure some day - since after now about 17 flights everything more special than basic flying characteristics need to be explored away from any urban facilities ... at Yanglian.

Hopefully, Chengdu will develop the J-20 more patiently and realistically than Lockheed did with the F-22. Seems that one issue after another has now completely grounded the latter. As such, there are no operational 5th generation fighters as of yet. Consequently, the F-22, T-50, and J-20 all are essentially still in development.

Only because they are grounded at the moment and surely only temporaryly You cannot say the Raptor is still in development.

To compare the T-50 with the J-20, that's more than comparable ... and I'm interested which one enters service at first.

see, I think this is the problem with Chinese forums. There are too much speculations going on. And they sometimes they recreate threads based on what people outside of China are posting. And then, a lot of time, we are posting based on what we reading on Chinese forums, so you got a circular posting going on.

That's why I say, be aware of what you read on Chines forums. Even on a popular one like CD, there is a lot of so called big shrimps who don't seem that legitimate to me.

See post nº 2169. See first 3 pictures, specially the first, and notice how the two nozzles are identical on the inside, and identical in size. Only on the outside they seem to be painted differently. I think its a matter of painting.

Yes, they have been posted before in this thread. But in the first picture in post 2169, you can only see the vaguest outline of the inside of the engine, so I have no idea how you could conclude they are 'identical on the inside'.

You need far more detailed shots to be able to draw any sort of conclusion with any confidence. If you compared those engines to similar quality and definition shots of any other jet engine in the world that has round nozzles and they would all look pretty much the same.

Who would paint a jet engine nozzle? It's as ridiculous as someone deciding to paint his motobike's exhaust pipe.

I recognize im not an expert on nozzles, but make a zoom and the nozzles look identical in the inside. Even the petals seem similar

At the very least, they are identical in size.
