Twitter post from a credible source predicting annual J-20 production for FY2023 to be >100 airframes

@Patchwork_Chimera: please don’t cross post my tweets on Reddit/other forums.

People who follow Patch on Twitter: cool let’s go cross post it everywhere.

I mostly gave that caveat as a precaution, since the folks who clued me in to the figure (just during discussion over a work lunch, since I was in town to consult a few galaxy brains - don't get any funny ideas that it's 2(S)us4(U) lol) also expressed a shared uncertainty about what exactly their material was assessing would "break the 100 unit per year barrier" by the end of the year (the actual total number of aircraft produced during '23? or just the immediate production cadence?).

Personally - between the grapevine's similar rumblings, the production ramp-up that even os*nters are aware of, and the guidance of my own (solely kosher) >PRoFeSSioNaL knowledge on the matter - I wouldn't be surprised to see totals in the 100-105 range this year. However, if they are just ramping up cadence to that EOY target, and/or if they got off to a slow start in January, I would only expect to see perhaps 80-90 aircraft hit the tarmac by EOY '23.

Imo, the Y/Y production trend, and the number of delivered, operational "Primary Mission" aircraft to PLAAF Brigades (as well as which Brigades, which Dadui the aircraft fill out, the Brigade's post-induction activities with the new platforms, etc.) are vastly more meaningful anyways. Airframe counting is neither my actual job, nor something I'm super interested in; and I only addressed it in this instance because they're hitting the fabled <<TRIPLE DIGITS!!!>>, and to note how rapidly they've ramped J-20 production in order to do so. That's why I asked folks not to go crossposting my tweets, since important details often go unnoticed or overlooked (or people simply misinterpret my schizo-ramble sleep deprived syntax) whenever people see or discuss my posts without me around to clear up confusion.

Hope that's coherent.
(I can no longer tell; sleep is a distant memory)
thanks for this Patch.
I have always wondered in case of PLAAF, what is the proportion between total production and primary mission aircrafts?

It seems in case of J20, the only 2 non-combat units got J20 are the 2 in Cangzhou and Dingxin, while all others are right to the combat units. Does it mean all the latter ones can be counted as primary mission aircrafts?

and i think it is not until very recently PLAAF aviation universities start to get (relatively) modernized aircraft such as J10a or J11b. If so, does it represent a shift of training structure towards what is similar to USAF?

appreciate if someone with the knowledge would comment

Excerpt from a CCTV 7 documentary claims that J-20 dominates 4th generation fighter aircraft in instantaneous turn rate, nose pointing ability, and supersonic flight capabilities.

Here is a nice small diameter corkscrew maneuver executed at high altitude as recorded by the official PLA newspaper.

P.S. according to caption the maneuver is executed above 10,000 meters.
