I don't if anybody thinks the same but to me, from this angle, canards are a kill for the stealth. Hope they positions better in flight.
Considering that the plane is coming in for landing I don’t think stealth matters at this stage.

I think Yankee said the current production version does not have a gun but there are gun ports for where the guns are supposed to be. I'm guessing they'll place the gun in once the WS-15 comes online ... for now they want to save weight to squeeze as much performance out of the Taihangs.
These are not confirmed to be gun ports but I think are very reasonable candidates.Really? hmm, that does make sense considering the current jet is somewhat underpowered and they aren't going to war anytime soon anyway. At most, they'll only lack the gunnery practice time. Out of curiosity, do you have any pictures of the gun port? It'll be interesting to compare it to F-22 & F-35 gun ports. Also, do you know what type of gun will it use? Will it be the J-10 gun, J-11/16 gun, or a whole new Gatling gun?

As for the gun, insider Yankeesama said "the gun will be "unlike any currently in service in PLAAF" but didn't elaborate further."J-20 5th Gen Fighter Thread V

Sorry I was referring to Blitzo's post at #2756. Scroll down a little on that link. He drew a red box around it.

I believe it's part of the maintenance panel too.I did saw it. Was it a part of the maintenance panel or the pop-up panel when the gun is going to shoot like in F-22? IMO it was a bit too far in the back for it to be the pop-up panel, especially when deflection shooting in a dogfight, so I guess it's the maintenance panel?
I don't know about lacking gun practice... if the software has stuff like gun funnel and radar gun sights (which can use, for example, balistics data of a Gsh301 in the absence of an actual gun on J-20) the pilots would be able to simulate guns only dogfights as much as they want. However whether J-20's software encorporates gun simulation at this point is a question I can't answer, just suggesting one possibe workaroundReally? hmm, that does make sense considering the current jet is somewhat underpowered and they aren't going to war anytime soon anyway.
