No question that they have been working on an OVT engine since the Flanker's acquired them early on, it obvious they have a handle on the technology as anyone who saw the J-10C perform at Zhuhai must have surely figured out! In days past our man the "engineer", (have you given up on us Bub?) was quite convincing in his argument that China wasn't particularly interested in OVT..
I'm imagining, nothing more, that those Su-35's have caused a real stir, as OVT is a game changer on the Flanker airframe, it's large, and although aerodynamically amazing, OVT does indeed increase its capabilities two fold.... as the J-20 uses all the latest aerodynamic tricks, canards, vortex generators, etc, etc, to maximize maneuverability, its already very agile! I'm not certain OVT would give it a lot more than it already has aerodynamically, I'm fairly certain it will put you to sleep with its 9G, maybe more pitch performance?
the J-20 is indeed a very high performance package already, it will only get better when the WS-15 is rolled out!
