That’s called differential thrust. We’ve seen this happen numerous times both in the air and prior to takeoff.Looks like nozzle positions are at different settings in the second image, perhaps getting some testing done.

I am aware, although it just doesn't seem all that practical to the best of my knowledge, especially since the moment arm would be quite small on J-20 compared to fighters with wider spaced engines/shorter fuselages. Assuming WS-15 spools fast, I don't know why differential thrust would be used especially given rudders seem like a much superior option even at low airspeed, unless its digital. Also hide the engine nozzles from the sides. Beside small updates, I dont see further big evolution on the J-20 platform with the sixth generation fighters coming along. Some people are still gonna complain about ventral strakes, but they serve an important purpose maintaining stability at high AOA because of how small the all-moving slabs are.
Afaik pilots do actively use differential thrust in crosswind conditions during landing. Seems reasonable then. Next step would be to find the J-20 doing it. I'll see if I find anything.Afaik pilots do actively use differential thrust in crosswind conditions during landing. See:
Where are my apologies???It’ll be ready next year. Be patient. For the parade and first batch in service they needed absolute reliability.
I won’t be satisfied until we see in service J-20A with WS-15. Tired of watching yellow primer J-20A with WS-15.Where are my apologies???
