Turkish radars are that good? Have they achieved any breakthroughs that would allow them to surpass the performance of Western radars and reach the same level performance as the latest Chinese radars?

AESA + fully digital backend + GaN paradigm made nations much closer to each other at the same aperture. You do not need esoteric vacuum tube and analog processing stuff anymore. Mechanics got much simpler as scan went electronic too. Nowadays, computing power, good RF components and PCB manufacturing are commodities too. It wasn't like this 40 years ago.

This the F-105. It had the most advanced avionics suite when it was new. The first all-weather interdictor... Look at all those electronics. This complexity is gone.

I'd award more style points if pilots were to open the canopy and equip long jousting lances. Pilots from both sides take turns to try to knock each other out of their planes. Winner gets a billionaire heiress hand in marriage.

It's nothing new.

Some people are just discovering high quality close up imagery of certain panels on J-20 that are particularly populated with rivets and not comparing them with equivalent close up images of say F-35 or F-22.

There is nothing else to say about it.

And there definitely is no big reason for us to need to pay attention to poorly informed opinions on other platforms.

Only difference is literally that they put putty over the fasteners on F-35. Guess putty is now some sort of thing surmountable core tech for China now.

We don’t even have official designation of J-10C’s radar (KLJ-10 for those interested) revealed until the AFM article almost a decade after the aircraft entered service so no, we don’t have solid rumors or indications that J-20A/S switched over to GaN on SiC.
