Loadout is obviously J-16 or flanker variant. Say J-16 because most likely flanker type to be able to accommodate such a modification.

This display could also be used on J-20 though. Maybe they have no intentions of showing what info is projected on J-20's display.

... So why do you think the aircraft shown on the screen has any relation to the news/claim that it is being used on J-20? Nowhere is it suggested that the aircraft depicted on the screen is relevant to the claim being made.

According to local Chinese TV news out of Suzhou, this is J-20's wide-screen MFD. The news segment uses some old stock footage of the system from a couple of years ago, which demonstrated its voice-recognition capability.

The last picture is definitely new to me, however the first two pictures look like they are from the 2016 Suzhou tv news broadcast about J-20 using that display, with the same clip and timestamp and everything.

Are you sure this news segment is new and not merely someone reposting the same news segment we got over two years ago?

yes it does, but no doubt it would be fairly simple to incorporate it aboard the J-20 with a simple graphic display change.

Its amazing that even an IPAD can display flight instruments and associated airspeed, altitude, even the attitude gyro with and appropriate app. My brother has a GPS display with a moving map, true airspeed, etc, etc, its quite amazing actually, and as long as you are receiving gps data? "Bob's your Uncle", very neat, although I would recommend retaining a map, LOL....

Just to clarify a few things. As I have stated in my original post, the footage of the MFD is from 'a couple of years ago'. Yes, the MFD does show an outline of a conventional fighter, but notice the television graphics at the bottom: it literally states that this MFD – produced in Suzhou – is used by J-20. As @Bltizo pointed out, the footage is nothing new; what is new, however, is the spec sheet on this MFD. I should have translated the Chinese texts in the photos, but I was too busy and too tired to do so.

I'd imagine something similar. There is an ideal HMI layout. If these two are PLAAF's premier fighters, they should both be working with MFD that are the most capable technologies available.

I think we have confirmation that at least some J-16s do not use the cockpit display shown in the video.

But chances are J-16 or other flankers will receive it in time or perhaps more recent batches have already received them.
