Yang Wei Interview about the future of J 20 and unmanned aircraft with subtext in english
One of the many good reasons we see PLAAF owning Su-35s. Test actual effectiveness of the Su-35's claimed ability to spot stealth fighters. So if J-20 cannot be detected in any effective way, then Su-35 is completely useless against F-22 + F-35, J-20 is stealthy enough to avoid detection despite claims from Sukhoi, or F-22 etc are more observable than J-20 (highly unlikely but here are the three possibilities).
MKI is decades old technology now. The leaders and innovators are exploring 6th gen parameters if not further along. MKI is based on 70s cold war era tech through and through. It's about as effective as J-10b and J-11b. The only thing formidable about MKI is it's range, payload, and numbers employed by IAF which are inherently good qualities that are not really diminished by time.
Makes me wonder how the Su-35 vs J-20 results went. Judging by the glowing reviews and statements made about J-20 and no delays or upsets in production and delivery, seems like it's okay to assume J-20 performed as desired. No solid news on more Su-35 deliveries yet but could still be very much a real deal. Weren't there some reports about PLAAF being very pleased with Su-35 or was that RT/ Sputnik/ South Front sourced info? Either way, more Su-35s reflects poorly on J-11D program. That's if it is true.
from "several Kilometers" a Pilot with a good pair of eyes wouldn't need the Radar.
Although they could just fly both up there and see at what range the Irbis gets a solid lock to guide missiles at J-20.
