That's exactly what this supposed Yang Wei dismissal made me think of. Immediately when Sinosoldier mentioned it I thought that it smelled a bit fishy (not Sinosoldier, but the rumour), so that immediately made me feel a bit skeptical and wonder if this "rumour" was even really a rumour.

A quick reverse search of some of the key phrases in that text Sinosoldier posted and a search of Yang Wei's name itself turned up with news reports mostly from anti China media... and the lack of any discussions about this on the credible Chinese language military forums is further making it seem like a dodgy claim.
There is now confirmation that Yang will be the vice president of the Chinese Aeronautical Establishment (

). This is a dedicated R&D establishment under AVIC, with a role that is probably similar to the aeronautics research section of NASA.

It should be noted that although Yang's position is VP, he may be the actual head of the CAE. This is because both the chairman (Lin ZuoMing) and president (Zhang XinGuo) of the CAE holds other important positions in the AVIC management, so it is unlikely for them to be fully involved with CAE's daily operations, leaving Yang to be the one in charge. Such a setup is fairly common in many of China's government establishments.

They must be flying these beauties very aggressively. We don't usually see a lot of pictures with other kinds of fighters (J-10, J-11, etc) showing so many vortices. Within the past few days, at least half of pics that we've seen got the J-20 with amazing vortices.

So my question is that have they been flying the J-20 extra aggressive, or the J-20 has been designed to generate vortices? Maybe both?
The perceived amount of vortices could also be increased by the relative humidity of the air. Chengdu is known for being humid and cloudy.

Agreed and to complement. In a Chinese research institute (研究院), the head chief (院长) is essentially in charge of administrative operations while one of the deputy chiefs being (技术副院长 technical deputy) in charge of technical operations. This post is usually one person. There can be other deputy chiefs charged for other tasks to assist the head. But the technical deputy is the leader of all research tasks. Very often this post (tech leader) is called Chief Engineer of the institute, in this setup all deputies would be administrative tasked not tech tasked. The rank of the Chief Engineer of an institute is equal to deputy chiefs, the only difference is the name of deputy chief sounds more like a "true" boss, so it is sometimes preferred and bestowed to signify something.

So this promotion of Yang Wei is surely a significant acknowledgement of his past achievement and he would be overseeing all research projects from CAC, XAC to SAC.

It definitely is a promotion, and more importantly it allows him to have greater influence over the entirety of AVIC and to steer research and development in the direction he may see fit.

Given his experience and track record that should definitely be a good thing for the overall Chinese aerospace industry.
