I sometimes have the feeling that they are preparing for something bigger ... imagine the handover ceremony on August 1st of four or five J-20s to the FTTC !!!!!

I'm just dreaming ... and now back to School.

tailless?, operational testing?, four or five?,,,,,,, you guys are all taking your "flights of fancy" to new heights??? I thought I was the only one guilty, (yeah, I'm not giving up the F-22 line re-opening).

I want to know where 2102 is??? so now its time for the next "batch" to start trickling out, but where is 2102???

Recent escalation of the war of words surrounding the militarization of the South China Sea, say the long range "combat air patrol" mission for the J-20 should be pushing the development and LRIP production schedule to the front burner. I would say a similar push on China's aircraft carrier production? may bring the FC-31 as a similar "need", as China realizes that with US and neighbors operating 5 gen fighters nearby, Chinas own five gen production will need to be "expedited"!

as Deino suggested there may well be a small flock of 5 gens being prepped for a push in op tempo, in fact it wouldn't totally surprise me to see some LRIP birds accompanying some of the Flanker variants? The Russians are trying to get the T-50 up to speed, and that will spur the Chinese and the US to turn up the heat as well??

By the way ... did You notice, how effective the Chinese stealth technology already is ?

There's a fourth J-20 and this one between the two light-grey/silver ones is barely visible: Only a small faded, blurred "bit of nearly nothing" !

Pretty sure there was a similar joke about F-3 before the Japanese government actually funded it.
