I thought engines were some sort of AL-31? When was it determined that they were WS-10 variant?I am going to keep the following spreadsheet on the J-20.
I find it helpful to keep the dates and notes all lined up like this. Anyone want to help out/update/correct? Deino?

Great! I will update my little chart accordingly! Thanks a lot ... I'm hoping for '2016' but so long here are three more ...
'manqiangrexue' is correct, the engines are some sort of AL-31 - IMO a version of the AL-31FN series III - since all details of that engine hints to an AL-31 and honestly none to the WS-10 (maybe only the silverfish colour):
Also No. 2002 started as a "second" 2001 at first, gained later the radar (?) and was finally renumbered 2004.
Master Jeff, if you would post this picture with the vortices off the trailing edge of the canards to the aerodynamics thread, maybe we can hear Mr. Scratch out and learn something???Very nice...let me clean up the watermarks that are there:
The J-20 is certainly a beautiful bird!
That pic would make a heck of a wallpaper/background image.
That picture has the best view of the forward looking PDS aperture on the nose yet.
