So as we await the first flight of 2011, I am assuming that 2002 is at the Chengdu factory field and 2001 is still "out in the country", any word from the wall climbers of the flying status of 2001???

As far as I understad the situation, both '2001' + '2002' must be at Xi'an-Yanglian with '2001' being repainted in the same or similar light-grey scheme as '2011'.

Besides taht via the CDF I've learned the according to the lunar calendar, the official end of this years's Spring Festival falls on February 14, ... as such from now on no reason to be lazy any longer !!! Time to get ready and return to work.

Deino, I hate doing this to you, but:

Most likely fake.

We must wait just a while longer.

Care to give a basic translation?

Somebody posted a screen capture of a Weibo post, which alleges the existence of '2012'. Folks at F Y J S are almost unanimously skeptical.

P.S. Weibo is a Chinese microblog service, with its closest Western equivalent being Twitter.

Perhaps, or rather that water mark could be fake. Who would put it on just an image of "2012" that is more clearer than the picture itself?

Well, 2012 certainly will come into existence, if it hasn't already. As for if this photo is genuine, I remain skeptical. It just seems too soon.

Then again, you never know. If I recall correctly, 2002's leak started in a similar manner.

So skeptical for now.

Thanks and even if I saw this image myself today morning I really don't take it seriously ... first due to the dark camoflage (I don't think they just do all that mess and oaint '2001' in light grey as well as '2011' only to paint a secret '2012' dark again !?), the I think it is more than unlikely that a '2012' will fly - if it ever already exists - before '2011' and third .... just call it a feeling !

Anyway thanks,
Deino

Article from CNN about china´s aircraft prototypes. It seems to me that they dont think highly of them, with one commentator talking of "posturing", another of "in china, quantity has a quality of its own", and refering to cyberwarfare and AsBM as a serious concern.

what do you think about it, and is this the way american media thinks about china´s military development?

Thanks Deino, I was kinda behind the 8 ball on that, and I agree we could see a first flight anytime.

the American media doesn't do much critical thinking kroko, those kind of defense issues of another nations aircraft are left to the aviation or military publications such as the Air Force Magazine, or the mag Deino writes for Air Combat monthly, those and similar magazines do an outstanding job of maintaining objectivity, in particular the AFM, which is published by the Air Force Association, which is currently sponsoring a "Symposium" in Florida dedicated to defense issues, with lots of active duty military in attendance, and giving presentations. Peoples reputations, and to some extent their "careers" depend on "getting it right", and very few in military circles, "blow off" the potential threats, neither do they tend to hype them beyond their capabilities......
