How does he know that 0101 and 100 are the same aircraft?

Usually all aircraft have their c/c painted on the intake ... and '100' has '0101' ! ... so maybe they are the same.

Are you sure? The numbers painted on the intakes does not match with the serial numbers on older aircraft.

I checked a few more and they are all fitting nicely:

No. 101 has the c/n = 0102
No. 102 has the c/n = 0103
No. 103 has the c/n = 0104
No. 104 has the c/n = 0105
No. 105 has the c/n = 0106
...
