Delft...they have had 25 years to do this. All the excuses in the world will not change that. They simply either could not do it...despite whatever clinical calculations...or they simply chose not to do so.

We do not know which it is, but at this point I think it is pretty clear that they are not going to do so now with the SU-33. They may well do so for the Mig-29K once they begin reforming the air wing with those aircraft.

As it is...let's get back on topic. What the SU-33 does on the Kuznetsov is not what this thread is about and we have thrashed this to death (as has been done numerous times over the years every time it comes up).

I believe the Chinese, if they can, will definitely make the J-15 capable of performing strike at sea missions with ASMs.

We shall see...time will tell.

If you mean what I think you mean, then you haven't been following the discussion over the last few pages.

The J-15's size and massive fuel load is certainly implicit of the PLAN's intention to extend their carrier's striking range (perhaps to compensate for its lack of nuclear propulsion).

What would complete the trifecta would be the induction of a long-range, hopefully low-observable, air-launched anti-ship or cruise missile. The PLAN could import the Pakistani Ra'ad, modify it for anti-ship or extended range purposes, and give the J-15 (and potentially J-31) improved flexibility.
