Delft...they have had 25 years to do this. All the excuses in the world will not change that. They simply either could not do it...despite whatever clinical calculations...or they simply chose not to do so....the refit of the carrier has been delayed repeatedly seemingly for financial reasons. They may not want to integrate an anti-ship missile now only to have to repeat it for the next missile after the refit.
We do not know which it is, but at this point I think it is pretty clear that they are not going to do so now with the SU-33. They may well do so for the Mig-29K once they begin reforming the air wing with those aircraft.
As it is...let's get back on topic. What the SU-33 does on the Kuznetsov is not what this thread is about and we have thrashed this to death (as has been done numerous times over the years every time it comes up).
BACK ON TOPIC.
I believe the Chinese, if they can, will definitely make the J-15 capable of performing strike at sea missions with ASMs.I fully expect PLAN not to delay this longer than to integrate more urgently needed weapons and systems.
We shall see...time will tell.
