Is the new J-15 better than the J-16D?

???

Why even compare J-15T with J-16D?

J-15T is a general multirole fighter, while J-16D is an EW/ECM oriented SEAD/DEAD fighter.

Are you wanting to compare J-15T with J-16 instead, or perhaps to compare J-15D/DT with J-16D?

Not until it gets WS-10H2

????
That also doesn't make sense.

Even assuming GiantCanofWater was asking about standard J-16 rather than J-16D, we have no basis to suspect that J-15T powered by Al-31 would have any major differences in capability from J-15T powered by WS-10s.

I'm assuming J-15T and J-16 comparison, we all know Al-31F is underpowered compared to the WS-10B3(Which presumably is what WS-10H2 will be based on) hence J-15T with WS-10H2 even assuming all else is the same i.e reliability/throttle response time/electrical generation will at least have significantly better kinematic performance.

Will some of shandongs/liaonings j15T be transferred to fujian after she's commissioned or is there a separate batch made superficially for the ship?

... compare J-15D/DT with J-16D?

I don't see how either is noticeably (if not significantly) better or worse than the other, given that both of them are under the same PLA umbrella (and that both aircrafts are being produced by the same aircraft corporation).

Besides, "better" is relative. Both the J-15DT and J-16D receive continuous and iterative upgrades and improvements. This also means that the newer production units are always going to be better than the earlier production units.

Al-31 has marginally less thrust than the latest WS-10 that J-15T will probably get, but holding all else equal the differences in capability of a J-15T using Al-31 versus a J-15T using a WS-10 is probably rather miniscule.

Taking that miniscule differences and comparing it to a standard recent batch production J-16 is not likely to be significant.

Heck, even the original question asked is rather silly to begin with -- comparing a carrierborne single seater multirole fighter with a twin seat land based multirole fighter when both would have comparable avionics and weapons suites is just picking at minutiae and the best answer is "it depends on the mission/role".

Consider being more specific in future because adding or omitting a letter changes the entire meaning of your question.

As for comparing a J-16D and J-15D/DT -- the answer is that they are likely to be so similar that there's no major differences apart from J-16D being land based and J-15D/DT being carrierborne based on the same airframe footprint this having some minor adverse effects on its operating empty weight and/or internal fuel capacity.

Will some of shandongs/liaonings j15T be transferred to fujian after she's commissioned or is there a separate batch made superficially for the ship?

There is no reason to think the J-15Ts they have produced today or into the future will be inherently tied to one carrier or another. They should expect to be able to cross deck and deploy aboard any carrier as needed.
