Is that really a J-15A, or simply a standard J-15?
I know this is confusing, we normally refer to the current batches of in-service aircraft as J15, but since there is a J15B emerging, and lack of reference to whether the current in-service jets is J15 or J15A, I have to assume J15A are the ones that are currently in service.

There is a problem in distinguishing whether (a) current in-service jets are all J15A (also normally referred to as just J15), or (b) are there 2 versions, i.e. certain batch is J15 and certain batch is J15A. The option that I chose is (a) as I have not read any writings that stated that there are 2 versions of J15 (i,e. J15 and J15A) in service with Liaoning and Shandong.

I agree and in fact I added a similar thought in my book. IMO the first 24 J-15s were delivered as regular J-15s - similar to the first three J-10 batches - and the J-15s build under Batch 03 & 04 are "maybe" of a slightly improved standard exactly like all J-10A from Batch 04 on.

As such, the current standard models is not unlikely a model called J-15A and all previous ones are brought to the same standard exactly like all early batch J-10.

This is surely not confirmed or proven, but IMO this "theory" makes sense.

Again some interesting news on the catapult capable J-15 program: Apparently on this image, not only the J-15T demonstrator no. 571 is visible, but also two (?) J-15B prototypes including a previously not seen one no. 1516 (?). (Images via @恒苏Actline from Weibo)

Just a question, but per my understand a lot of the recent imagery showing J-15S, the J-15T and even j-15B is from a new movie, but
does anyone know the name or title of this movie? ... or if it is available online somewhere?

Forgot to post this one: #571 the first J-15T demonstrator
